Japan Decorative Papers Japan has a long tradition of papermaking dating back 15 centuries when it was first introduced through the Korean peninsula from China around 105 AD. The majority of papers produced in Japan rely on three principal fibers which are stripped from the bark of fibered plants yielding Kozo(mulberry), Gampi and Mitsumata. Our present selection from Japan largely consists of those for printmaking techniques.
