Only the bark is harvested from the plant, in a process which is both beneficial to the plant and eco-friendly. The paper is handmade, using simple technology and ancient skills and produced mostly by small, woman-run cooperatives. Lokta paper is exceptionally durable, resistant to decay, free of acid, and ideal for archival applications and storage.
