The off-white background and long green leaf embedments produce a beautiful lightweight paper suitable for bookbinding, collage, lampshades and decorative projects. Thailand's paper industry has grown quite rapidly in the past decade. The factories in northern Thailand offer both machinemade and handmade decorative papers, revolutionizing the Asian paper market by supplying a vast array of reasonably priced, traditional oriental styles that can be used in many different creative processes. Thai machinemade, or Saa, paper are made from 100% kozo fiber with various inclusions. To make each individual sheet, the kozo fibers are soaked and beaten into pulp. The pulp is then laid onto a screen attached to a wooden frame. In most cases, the inclusions of flowers or leaves are added to the sheet.
